“I don’t know if you’ve heard of ‘Palms o’clock,’ but that’s a business killer right there,” Leonardo said, referring to the phrase students use for the half hour, just before closing, in which young people flock to the Royal Palm. “It’s really tough to make a living on less than three hours a week.”

“Of all the applications we received, Cornell and the Technion was far and away the boldest and most ambitious,” the mayor said. A big part of its appeal, he added, was “a tantalizing, groundbreaking partnership.”

“Recently I set out to hold a Battleship programming tournament here among some of the undergraduates. Naturally, I myself wanted to win. So, I got to thinking about the game, and developed what I like to call “the linear theory of battleship”. A demonstration of the fruits of my efforts can be found here.
